HIDDEN THINGS III

One of the hidden exchanges I have always liked was the apostle Paul’s defense before Agrippa in Acts of the Apostles 26:
“Suddenly, Festus shouted, “Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!”
But Paul replied, “I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth. And King Agrippa knows about these things. I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner! King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do—”
Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?”
Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.” (26:24-29)

Paul reminded the counsel of the message of the gospel that he had preached. “I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner!” They were not hidden, done in a corner, hidden or some versions in ‘a secret place.’

I believe if our message of the Kingdom of God is not done in a corner, a secret place or hidden in any way, or super-imposed with other philosophy, or watered down for culture, that we too may hear many say, “In a short time you will persuade me to become Christian” (Acts 26:28). A city set on hill is not hidden in any way and a lamp sitting on a stand gives light to the whole house. We should glow.

“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.” Jesus
