DOG BATH THERAPY
We may have rolled in stuff we should not have rolled in. We tangled with a skunk and were sorry we did. We jumped the fence and entered another yard and got the stuffing knocked out of us. We got into Cockleburs and tiny little spiny burrs got all over us. We chased a car and could be dead instead of just dirty. We went to visit some hogs and came back smelling like a pigpen. All of this and more…
Dog Bath Therapy is a simple procedure. If we get dirty, then get a bath and shake it off all over whoever and wherever we are. Then walk away and lick our pride and smooth our composure, wag our tail and carry on with life. Shake it off! Be done with it. When the water dries it is over. Shame dries a little slower than bathwater, but it does dry. We remember nothing or at least little that happened. Hopefully no one else will either. Time to carry on.
Anyone who has ever had a dog and been part of this ritual understands completely the wisdom of Dog Bath Therapy. Most of the things mentioned can be washed off and one can start fresh again. However, there are some things one may get into that are like the skunk: it does not wash off, it has to wear off over time. But it will and then it’s still time to carry on.
“A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” Jesus
