MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
I often hear the phrase: “It is moving in the right direction.” What I do not often hear is what that right direction might be.
‘So… Moving in the right direction…’ Is a way to say ‘I hope so…’ ‘I don’t know…’ ‘I think so…’ ‘Maybe…’ or ‘I’m sure…’ or the ‘in right direction as far as I am concerned’ but it is better than ‘moving in the wrong direction.’ Without definition of what one perceives as wrong and right direction there is really no real clear consensus on where one might be going.
We can probably conclude that the ‘right direction’ is the direction that we have determined is right. What’s wrong is what we have determined is wrong. It is based on our ‘Standard of Reference.’ Where we come from with our opinion and direction. What’s wrong with that? Anything else is kind of crazy and ‘pick a stick’ thinking. The short stick wins…or is it loses? We perceive by choice or chance… or so it seems to me.
“Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.” Jesus
