CHANGING THE SCALES
I think there is a major shift that I see as ‘changing the scales’ from actual to preference… regardless of the actual. I don’t assume for a moment that this is anything new.
This change is simply this: Highlighting our differences rather than our similarities.
With this kind of scale there is no accurate reading… only a preferred or predetermined reading. A true scale involves weight and mass. When our mass and weight are different in orientation… we are different as well.
We change the scale by placing a stone or two on the scale on one side or the other in our favor.
Micah, a prophet, said,
“Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed? Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?”
(Micah 6:10-12)
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.” Jesus
