MORE LOVED
Tim Keller, well known New York City pastor and author wrote:
“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
I have thought many times about this very issue: how much is too much to be too sinful and unacceptable and how much grace and mercy is there in Jesus to cover all this transgression? This is simply and only human reasoning. The message from the Word (Jesus) is that he came to rescue us from whatever… name it… however ugly we might think it is. He said he could handle it.
According to the Gospel of Luke 15… the Father was looking for this prodigal son as he returned home and he gave him a loving embrace, clean shirt and a big dinner… I’m in. This is the way of our Father.
“But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.” Jesus
