SIMPLE ACTIONS
To follow after the spiritual life is not a matter of endless education and learning. I think it is a matter of just being who we are and the actions of our hearts. It isn’t written principles of behavior or a code of rules. It is the simple actions of faith and love.
Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) once said, “Christ did not establish any doctrine; he acted. He did not teach that there was redemption, he redeemed. Christ’s relationship to God, nature, and the human situation was conditioned by his activity. Everything else is to be regarded as introduction.”
Silence and meditation are ‘introductions’ to teach us about the activities that we are to be involved in at the present moment. A simple action out of simple obedience is what we are called to do. It is just normal Kingdom life… doing the stuff.
“So why do you call me ‘Lord,’ when you won’t obey me?” Jesus
