GETTING CLEAN

I took a shower this evening and was careful to wash and clean everything I could reach. But when I was finished…I of course could not reach my heart and mind with soap and water. However, it was interesting to me that having a clean body made me want to have a clean interior as well. The shower only took me a few minutes. The silence and solitude for my heart and mind took considerably longer.

Whatever it takes… we need to be as clean as we can be without guilt and shame. The heart, mind and conscience are cleansed by repentance. There is no soap or brush for this except honesty, humility and fessing up.

Scrubbing is truly only skin deep. The heart and mind are much, much deeper and more complicated. But they are cleansed just as quickly as a good back scrub with a heart scrub of repentance. Believe the Lord for right cleansing and right standing. All else is really pretty goofy and religious. I feel clean. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse our interior. Thank you, Lord.
