HOPE AND HEALING
The Father is the one who so loved the world He sent His Son into the world to save it. He still sends each day, His sons, each of us, into the world to save it. Salvation is a work of God carried out by all His children. It is not ethereal, light, insubstantial, programmed, methodical, systematic and encoded as our society. It is fresh and exciting. It is with mastery and not just mystery. We know His love and generosity and can serve this truth in a societal malaise of emptiness, obesity, wealth and despair.
We have reason to be concerned about serious and concerted effort in our mission to love and serve the gospel into our world. If we are too slow and careless in doing our part to promote this great gospel of Jesus, the world will fall into the hands of another kind of missionary. Terrible and godless and cruel missionaries will drive out the gospel of love and peace from every corner of the earth. In the next 20-30 years it will probably be decided if Christians are Christians, or are we just pawns and decoys floating on a river of religious sentimentality and on out into the sea of destruction.
Lord, awaken us to the freshness and thrill of the hour. Help us to have mission in our hearts to bring hope and healing to the nations.
“Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ Jesus
