LONGING TO SEE AND HEAR
We look, but do not see
We see, but do not look
We hear, but do not listen
We listen, but do not hear
This fulfills Isaiah’s prophecy.
Married, but not married
Divorced, but not divorced
Together, but not together
One but still two
Two but not one
Christian, but not Christ’s
Christ’s, but not Christian
Kingdom, but no King
King, but no Kingdom
Christian but no Kingdom
Church, but no church
No church, but a church
Fellowship, but just meeting
Meetings, but no fellowship
No fellowship meeting.
Life, but no life
No life, but life
Living, but dead
Dead, but living
Alive, but dead
Choose, to be alive
Be alive, to choose
Choose life, love
Love is a choice
The Kingdom is Love.
Jesus is King and Love
Be one and the other
Not one or the other
Life is being One
And not just the other.
“For the hearts of these people are hardened,
and their ears cannot hear,
and they have closed their eyes—
so their eyes cannot see,
and their ears cannot hear,
and their hearts cannot understand,
and they cannot turn to me
and let me heal them.” (Isaiah 6)
(Poems for 2020)
“But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.” Jesus
