BEING FOUND
It can be difficult to be found. It is easy to be lost. Being found is God’s work and being lost is our doing. To be found requires humility and to be lost requires false pride. One says, ‘I can’t find my way’ and the other says, ‘I will decide what my way will be.’
Being found is hard because we must admit we are lost and this chips away and cracks open our independent and self-reliant shell. We are exposed as needy. Only a generous God can come to our aid when we have such resistance to his grace and such confidence in our misguided lives. But that is exactly the generosity of a God who wants us found. He comes to us with such tenderness and love that we do not feel belittled and ashamed by his coming. He even lets us believe we found the way all on our own without the help of anyone. As long as we are found is all that seems to matter…to a loving Father.
“Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep, which was lost.” Jesus
