THE DISABLED HOUSE

In the night recently I was reminded of the text in which Jesus said a house divided against it self cannot stand. And even if it does it will be standing on one leg and using only one hand and seeing with one eye. That is a disabled house.

Then I saw license plates on vehicles with the common DP (disabled person) marking except now they were DH… for Disabled House. Some were blue and some were red. It created a very un-civil citizenry.

Jesus also said that a divided house represents a divided person, marriage, business, church, etc. It just cannot be anything other than divided if both sides are unequal and divided in intent and purpose. It is disabled. It walks with a limp, using only one hand, and searches to see with only one eye; and has double-mindedness.

Sooner or later this divided condition will implode and collapse. But perhaps more tragic is a slow and gnawing division with the pretense of being normal. Like a disabled marriage, church, business, nation or person…it is standing in many perspectives but standing disabled.
