WALKING ON HIGH PLACES
“Though the fig tree does not blossom,
and no fruit is on the vines;
though the produce of the olive fails,
and the fields yield no food;
though the flock is cut off from the fold,
and there is no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will exult in the God of my salvation.
God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
and makes me walk on high places.”
(Book of Habakkuk 3:17-19)
This is a difficult passage in the midst of a pandemic, unemployment, business failure, illness, financial collapse, fear, anxiety and stress. But what else can we do except cry out to the Lord, rejoice in the Lord; and pray for feet like the deer so we might walk on high places. However, a quick look at Habakkuk 1 and we will see that his time was similar to ours. The need to be Deer Footed has been around a long time. Almost as long as being Bare Footed.
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” Jesus
