SHORT PRAYERS
Jesus never approved of long prayers. He did approve and practice long praying.
It must mean that little time was spent speaking during prayer and much time was spent listening.
“And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.” (Gospel of Matthew 14:23)
“Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (Gospel of Matthew 26:36)
“But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray.” (Gospel of Luke 5:17)
“In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.” (Gospel of Luke 6:12)
Short prayers. Long listening.
“Pray that you may not come into the time of trial.” Jesus
