WHEN GOD SPEAKS
When God speaks to us He has no favorite way, except of course, in the general sense of speaking to us ‘in His Son’ (Hebrews 1:1-2). He speaks strongly in other ways, but they are all to announce His voice and invitation. For example, in Psalm 19:1-3, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, their voice is not heard. But for the entire earth the design stands out, this message reaches the whole earth.” Another is Job 12:7-9, “You have only to ask the cattle, for them to instruct you, and the birds of the sky, for them to inform you. Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you, and the fish of the sea will provide you an explanation, there is not one such creature but will know that the hand of God has arranged things like this!” Or, “The stone will cry out from the wall, and the rafter will answer from its framework” (Habakkuk 2:11), and Luke 19:39-40, “And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to Him, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples. And he answered and said, ‘I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
“If they (Jesus’ disciples) keep quiet, the stones along the road will burst into cheers!” (The Living Bible) Jesus
