MERCY FOR ALL
“Oh, the depth of the riches
both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God!
How unsearchable His judgments
and untraceable His ways!
For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been His counselor?
Or who has ever first given to Him,
and has to be repaid?
For from Him and through Him
and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever. Amen”
(Book of Romans 11:34-36)
The author of the Book of Romans, Paul, an apostle, is quoting verifying references in this text from the prophet Isaiah and the ancient Book of Job. He wants his thought to be strong and without chance of misunderstanding.
If we assume that we have figured out the ways, thoughts and judgments of the Lord we are as dumb and mute as the wood, stone, metal and plastic idols built and called god by believers and unbelievers for generations. The part we can understand is in verse 32: “For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.”
“Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Jesus
