RECIPE #25 SATURDAY NIGHT HAMBURGERS
As far back as I can remember (and that is pretty far back) we had Hamburgers every Saturday night when I was growing up. We also had Homemade French Fries and Homemade Ice Cream and Lula’s Brown Sauce.
Ingredients:
Hamburger- a high quality 85% lean and 15% fat mix.
Russet Potatoes- Hand cut into French Fries.
Hamburger Buns
Directions:
Form hamburger into one-fourth pound patties. Salt and Pepper and fry on a hot griddle until well done.
Toast Hamburger buns on same griddle to a toasty brown. Burger condiments: Yellow Mustard, Dill pickles, Tomato, White Onions and Lettuce. (Chow-Chow is also an option). (There was no mayonnaise in our house and there still should not be in any home just in case of poisoning or gagging or other issues to safety and health).
Fresh hand cut French Fries are fried in Crisco Oil in a Cast Iron Skillet until golden brown, sprinkled with of salt and pepper and served with catsup.
Hamburgers and French Fries pair well with Home Cured Olives, Homemade Pickled Beets, Sweet Iced Tea, Coke, Nehi Orange Soda, Vanilla or Chocolate Milk Shakes.
(Note: The Home Made Ice Cream and Lula’s Brown Sauce recipes will be in next month’s Journal. If you cannot wait a month I will email you the recipes early for a very small fee of $300.00.)
I don’t share these recipes with just anyone.
