THE CROWING ROOSTER
The story of Peter and the Rooster is famous. He was all sold out for the Lord and the Kingdom and made promises and comments of unfeigned loyalty. So did the other disciples.
“Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away.” Jesus replied to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.” (Matthew 26:33-35)
Peter gets all the blame in this story and he is the center of conversation. However, as we notice the last line of this text, “And all the disciples said the same.” It could have been anyone of them or us.
I have heard the rooster crow many times and now when I do it is like other times when roosters crow: it is a wakeup call. I take it as a warning to repent, stop lying to myself and return to the Lord.
