RECIPE # 21 LULA’S ITALIAN SPAGHETTI
I don’t know if this recipe is Italian or Spaghetti but it is pretty tasty. It goes back to when some of my southern family members were just beginning to try new fangled foreign foods like Spaghetti, Enchiladas and even an occasional trip to a Chinese restaurant… no really, that happened. And, my dad actually tried an artichoke at our house! (Just one did it…forever.)
Ingredients:
1 pound Hamburger (85-15%)
1- 4 oz. Small can sliced Mushrooms
1 large Onion
1- 10.5 oz. can Tomato Soup
1- 8 oz. can Tomato Sauce
1- 15 oz. can Diced Tomatoes
1- 4 oz. can/jar Pimento Peppers
1 cup Chopped Celery
2 tsps. Chili powder
1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
Half-Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 tsp. Salt
1 cup Grated cheddar Cheese
1 Pound Spaghetti Pasta
Cook Spaghetti and drain. In another pan start cooking meat while adding mushrooms, onion and celery to meat. Open all cans and add to meat mixture. Heat all ingredients and combine spaghetti and meat mixture. Pour into a large Roaster Pan and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. When done, top with Grated Cheddar Cheese and serve.
Pairs well with Garlic Bread, Green Salad and Sweet Iced Tea or Orange Kool-Aid.
Covers Food Groups of Hamburger, Tomatoes and Pasta.
