VULTURES AND SACRIFICES
There are Vultures on the Sacrifices. Many will try to come into understanding again about Covenant Relationships. These Covenants will be demanded for the coming days. In Genesis 15:8-11 we find Abram with all five animals required (this is the complete sacrifice) for a Covenant with God. After Abram split the animals in half (but not the birds), they are offered as the Lord asked of him.
As soon as the sacrifices are prepared the text says, “the birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.” (15:11) I think we will need to drive off the vultures who try to steal our sacrifices for making covenant with each other and with the Lord. If we will drive them away…then Covenant can come.
The Gospels of Matthew 24:28 and Luke 17:37 record a similar comment from Jesus for those at the close of the age that have made Covenant with him: “Where ever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather,” and “Where the body is, there also will the vultures be gathered.” We must not let the sacrifice of our Lord be destroyed as food for vultures. (Recorded in ‘Words for 1997,’ Ben Fike)
I very much believe that when I wrote this word 22 years ago that we would start to see the enemy come against our efforts to form lasting relationships and covenants with one another. I still think we are under siege.
“Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.” Jesus
