THE GAZE
While climbing around on the holy mountain we find some unexpected events. The higher up the mountain we climb the lower we sink into the earth that holds us up. We lie flat and face down and wait to hear the Voice say, ‘Look up here.’ This is the beginning of the gaze of God.
As the gaze grabs us our stomachs flatten out and suck the ground in the awe and beauty of the Divine. But then we are drawn up and into the presence and the two of us become one. The equality of love is present.
As we stare, and are stared upon, we become comfortable with the gaze of God so much so that we feel we are not receiving the correct attention if the gaze ceases. It does not always take a long steady look. Sometimes just a quick glace of the gaze and we are completed. We probably should stay away from the mountain if we do not want the staring gaze that is there.
“This voice has come for your sake, not for mine.” Jesus
