QUIET PLACE
Seeking a special quiet place is something we have to think about. Sometimes we may come peacefully and at other times it’s like we are being dragged in with great force. Either way, into the presence we must go. Upon arriving it is up to us to determine the extent of the effort for our journey. We get out of it what we put into it. If we put in a passive and reflective heart or a wild and untamed heart—what we sow is what we reap. There is no distinction.
The quiet place is so revealing that most would rather just skip it and go on to the ‘next place’ and not think about what the quiet is trying to tell us. Any message from the silence of our being will usually tell us to slow down, listen, get rid of, don’t be anxious about, get up early, press on strongly—and who wants to hear that?
Before seeking the quiet place we must make sure we want the instruction of the quiet place. It is a teacher like no other teacher and as the old proverb says, ‘when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.’ We must know the timing of entering silence and being confronted by the teacher.
“It is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher.” Jesus
