GREAT THINGS

The retired pope Benedict XVI once said, “Great things do not get boring with repetition. Only petty things call for variety and need to be changed quickly for something else. What is great grows greater still when we repeat it, and we grow richer, and become calm, and free.” 

“What is great grows greater still” is a wonderful way to explain love, faith, hope, generosity, giving, and many such attributes.

When things get boring it only means that our selfishness is being exposed. If we are bored… whose problem is that? It is our personal responsibility to fix or change circumstances that are boring. “Only petty things call for constant variety.”

“With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” Jesus
