THINGS THAT ARE TRUE
David Bohm’s (1917-1992), American scientist and theoretical physicist wrote, “Reality is what we take to be true. What we take to be true is what we believe… What we believe determines what we take to be true.”
I say there are things that are true whether we believe them or not. They just may not be true for us and thus Bohm’s thought is relevant. For example: the scripture is truth even if you or I don’t believe it. But the only truth that is true for us and that we can hold on to is the truth we have and believe. Everything else is mush and brain rattling.
Bohm was a brilliant scientist and thus used only science to determine his truth and was also an agnostic and therefore would not be interested in what I call a “standard of reference” which for me is the Scriptures. I am not opposed to science at all but my standard is scripture for understanding life, living, love, joy and wholeness.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” Jesus
