GOD’S EXPLANATION
Madeleine L’Engle (1918-2007) wrote, “Each galaxy, each star, each living creature, every particle and subatomic particle of creation, we are all made in God’s image…How? Genesis gives no explanations, but we do know instinctively that it is not a physical image. God’s explanation is to send Jesus, the incarnate One, God enfleshed. Don’t try to explain the Incarnation to me! It is further from being explainable than the furthest star in the furthest galaxy. It is love, God’s limitless love enfleshing that love into the form of a human being, Jesus, the Christ, fully human and fully divine.”
I agree with L’Engle…”don’t try explaining the incarnation to me” because it is far from my understanding. God’s explanation is the only one I understand (a little bit) which is Jesus Christ in the flesh living among us as one of us. Even saying that stretches my imagination and my ability to the max. It comes down to faith: we believe it or we do not believe it.
“If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” Jesus
