WHEN THINGS GO WRONG
Madeleine L’Engle (1918-2007) wrote, “It is when things go wrong, when the good things do not happen, when our prayers seem to have been lost, that God is most present. We do not need the sheltering wings when things go smoothly. We are closest to God in the darkness, stumbling along blindly. There is no such thing as belief without doubt or struggle.”
The Psalmist wrote, “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.” (Psalm 118:5)
When things go wrong… I often find prayer does too. It takes real discipline “to cry out in our distress” and yet…what else can we do? The promise is “the Lord answered me and set me free.” We have to walk in that…if we can.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus
