THE WAY OF WORSHIP
The focus of worship can begin to get fuzzy when we try to equate the worship of God with going to church. Going to church may, or may not, be a worship experience. A church building, a denomination, a group, a liturgy, an assembly, a method, an “order of worship” does not mean or create worship. We can worship the church, the church building, worship singing, the band, creeds, methods, healing, preachers, missions, or Bibles, and even worship worship and perhaps totally miss God altogether!
God calls us to worship Him, and only Him. Ways and Habits give way here. We can stand, whistle, lie down, bow down, jump up, fall down, sing, shout, kneel, walk, run, dance, cry, laugh, or sit like bump on a log. It gives way because there is not “one” way or one habit, but there are many ways and habits of worship. And as long as they are in Spirit and in Truth the Father loves them all. “How?” is not the issue. Doing is the issue. Worship is not an option. The ways of worship have many options.
“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Jesus
