BECOMING WORD
Meditation brings its own reality. It goes beyond our basic understanding and thought. We are brought to receive the presence of Jesus by revelation and not just from the history and facts of Bible truth and other reading. We are on our own. We partake of the Word. The Word is a person and not a printed page. He lives and brings life.
What happens is simple really; we put ourselves into the things we read and pray. They are more than historical and biographical truths, but by placing ourselves into the fabric of the accounts, stories and parables; we become active in the activity of God, either in the written word or Person of the one who is called The Word. If Jesus is only in our Bibles then he is still in the tomb. He has never come forth. He has yet to be resurrected. He is still just “an interesting history.” When we see him out of the grave, we should expect him to speak to us and invite us to his campfire on the beach for a “fish fry,” as he did for his disciples following his resurrection.
If we can transpose into the scripture, and into our prayer, we can become part of the revelation of God. He isn’t just revealed, we are revealed with him. We can see ourselves. This is true meditation. We have not seen if we only see others. We must first see our own condition and position. Then we cannot help but see others rightly because we have seen God.
