SCHOOL OF THE CROSS

In Words for 2007, I wrote:
School of the Cross

“A new type of school needs to be raised up NOW to meet the demands of the times we live in. This is an expanded discipleship school both for leaders and for the flock. The School should take about 3 months (intensive) or 6-8 months (less intensive).

The School would have three parts:

1. Monastic Life (develop the inner life)
One third of school (1/3)
This is learning and revelation of the cross Jesus died on.

2. Instructional Life (seminar/didactic) (Development of the mind in what we believe.)
One third of school (1/3)
This is learning and revelation that we died on
the cross with Jesus

3. Missional Life (developing a gospel strategy for what we do.)
One third of school (1/3)
This is learning to carry the cross daily that is
ours to carry.

In the deepening darkness there is nothing so helpful as embracing the cross. This is the hour to do this. Embrace the cross.”

That was eleven years ago… I believe it now more than ever.
