DO NOT FEAR #6
Jesus ended this section of his teaching on Do Not fear by saying, “Do not fear, you are more valuable than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:31). This great fear is that we are not valuable and this deals with our self-value and self-appreciation. Not one sparrow, which are valued at two for a penny, and yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your father. But the very hairs of your head are numbered’ (v.29-30). It is our deepest feelings of insignificance, loneliness, hiddenness, self-defeat, despair and isolation that cause our great fears. The Lord assures us of our value to him. “You are more valuable than many sparrows” is to tell us God values the sparrow but each of us so much more. And we all can, and need, to feel valuable.
So, the warnings of the ‘Do Not Fear Seminar’ are, do not fear speaking, when others hate us, what we don’t understand, those who can kill us, and our personal value. When we find the Kingdom paralyzed, we find people who have not been through this little seminar.
I think I am really scared now but also full of faith because I know I can do none of these things on my own, but only with Holy Spirit gifts. It takes God to eliminate fear.
“Do not fear, only believe.” Jesus
