GOD AND NATURE

John Scotus Eriugena (815-877) Irish theologian, poet and philosopher, wrote:

“Christ wears ‘two shoes’ in the world: Scripture and nature. Both are necessary to understand the Lord, and at no stage can creation be seen as a separation of things from God.”

If nature isn’t as bold a reading as scripture we have terribly missed the Father’s revelation to us. Our deepest understanding of our humanity is the Garden of Eden when all things were in perfect harmony as Adam and Eve were walking around butt naked talking with the Lord in total peace. This was Paradise.

Eden is called the Paradise of God. Our Edenic nature and our relationship with God are most perfectly understood in this term. Jesus Christ restored the potential for Paradise by becoming the Mediator between God and man. We are back strolling “in the cool of the evening talking with God” in Eden.

“He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”

“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Jesus
