SHEKINAH OF THE SOUL
Shekinah means ‘that which dwells’ or the glory of the divine presence, a light. The word shekinah is not in the Bible… but there are allusions to it. We need a Shekinah of the soul. A light that only the Holy Spirit can bring. A light no one else can turn off. It needs to be something that burns now. Any life of prayer that is only future is in confusion. The glory and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit is now from the God of the now. We need not spend our life searching and wondering. We should move out of spiritual middle-class and realize our inheritance is not heaven… it’s Him.
Our charismatic and spiritual experiences are simply a down payment on knowing the full inheritance: His fullness. We must without pretense, in freedom, go looking for the face of Jesus. We should never be satisfied with our depth and level of experience in the presence of the Lord. There is always more.
It is not enough to attend to the outward things of God, including acts of service and good works, but there is an inward orienting and adoration that springs from us because of fresh divine power within the secret silences of the soul. The inner living Christ is the compass needle of our reference for living. We commit to action first in our inner heart or our actions are impulsive. Action is the conclusion and not our thoughts about action. Practice comes from inner worship and prayer, not from theory and dogma. Our actions are the fruits, not the roots.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus
