SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS

Our customary way of finding answers is by searching. So often I do not have an answer because I have not searched for it. Most things are not found accidentally but intentionally.

The American painter Richard Diebenkorn (1922-1993) once wrote, “Do search. But in order to find other than what is searched for.” This is true exploring. We go looking and yet we are totally open to what we might find.

We may not find our answers the first few times we try. We make wrong turns and assumptions, take difficult roads and trials and make many mistakes. Diebenkorn also wrote, “Mistakes can’t be erased but they move you from your present position.” Rarely is anything found unless we move from our present position.
