GAINING INTERNAL IDENTITY

It seems rather simple and fundamental to even make reference to our identity being outward instead of inward. There is an external identity and that is whoever we decide to be to others around us in dress, language, housing, religious practices, motives, political party, church groups, etc. This particular external effort can be very subjective. It is what we choose in allowing others to have their opinion concerning us.

Identity in Christ is not first in the external things… but internal; in our spirit, mind, thoughts, attitudes, motives, etc. It is a proclivity to obey in our inner person. It is what we choose in allowing ourselves to make decisions about who we are. It is the self that knows the real self within… the Christ self within.

I think there will be a whole new understanding and desire for many to gain, or re-gain, as we gain an internal identity. I think this is the year for this quiet work. Only the Holy Spirit can do this in us.
