PURPOSES OF INTERCESSION
Intercession is primarily to come into agreement with the Father. We get Father’s perspective by hearing his voice. By interceding we come to faith concerning his perspective.
Intercession is also a type of worship. We attempt to exile ourselves and participate as The Book of Revelation says; “the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Hopefully our hearts are moved to this level of worship.
Intercession reveals times and seasons to us. It may give us warnings and directions. It can also be when we receive prophetic insights concerning these seasons. This kind of prayer may reveal a time for spiritual war to clear the way for a Kingdom advance.
Mostly, intercession is a time for listening. We are silent and still so we might hear the slightest or loudest word from the Lord. Intercession is primarily a prayer practice on behalf of others requiring the need to be careful and clear concerning what we hear.
“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Jesus
