WHAT TO DO NEXT

Elisabeth Elliot (1926-2015) missionary and author wrote, “Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person’s seemingly small act of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown what to do next.”

Elisabeth Elliot was a powerful and gifted person and for her everything may have been as simple and cut-and-dried as she wrote. However, trying to obey some small thing out in front of us can seem like the large thing until we are shown that it is just part of getting ready for the future thing. It is all a matter of obedience…small or large.
