WHAT DID YOU SAY?
Hard of hearing and/or hard of speaking? This is the dilemma of communication…. Did you hear what I said? Do you know what I said and what I meant?
Did you say something? How could/should I possibly know what you meant and what you said?
Such is the way of the Hard of Hearing and the Hard of Speaking… or both. Such is the way of the understanding and communication including communicating the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Practice is our best chance of hearing and speaking… practice, practice. Not religion, theology, politics, culture or philosophy or the 6 o’clock and online news, but as we practice the Gospel in word and deed we shall speak better and hear and be heard better. Or as the famous quote attributed to Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) says, “Preach the gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.”
“But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.” Jesus
