WELL WORN
If we have been around for very long we have of course had our share of ups and downs, down and outs, faith and doubt, doubts and fears and such. We may have had black eyes, black days or a black dog, or bright eyes, brighter days and a not so bright dog. It just means we are well worn.
These experiences show we have been much used or worn. To be well worn does not necessarily mean we have worn well. The first can be true and the second perhaps not so much. We may find that the learning, trials, losses and traumas that caused us to be well worn are not being worn well because of various disappointments and regret. There is rarely anything we can do about what happened yesterday…except to live differently today.
Being well worn and also balanced with worn well is receiving the offered grace and mercy of the Father by love, acceptance and forgiveness for living our lives in freedom even as we are wearing out.
“Well done, you good and faithful servant.” Jesus
