THE SAND LIFE AND THE ROCK LIFE
In this contrasting parable Jesus teaches us about two ways to think, to live, to build and to succeed or fail. In The Sand Life and the Rock Life we read: “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
Our greatest failures come when we try to live The Sand Life philosophy and the rains come, the wind blows, the floods come and beat the stuffing out of us with bankruptcy, debt, and losses of many kinds, false attempts, bad habits, poor health and many other sandy lifestyles.
Our greatest successes come when we trust the Rock Life philosophy and after the rains descend, the winds blow, the floods come, and beat upon us endeavoring unsuccessfully to destroy us because we have built upon the Rock of Jesus and his Kingdom way. The Rock life is a wiser and more powerful way to live. We have to Pour that Sand out of our shoes and get on with it before we get blown away.
