THE RIGHT TIME
I have been waiting a long time for March 9 to get here. This is the day that the clock in our car will be right again after being wrong since last November. That will be better… Better than seeing 9 o’clock and mentally saying, ‘it is really 8 o’clock.’ Who could possibly know how to change these clocks? If I take our car in to the service department at the dealership they give me very strange looks when I pull in and ask them to change the clock in our car. So, why does it take ‘the technician’ ten minutes to reset the clock if it’s so simple? I just don’t know if I can trust these people with our car clock.
And, there are some clocks that even Roz can’t reset. The car is one of them. I don’t dare touch that clock changer thing under the steering wheel because then they charge us $1,700 dollars to re-program the computer on the whole car and it never works the same again. So, I solved this by putting one of those little sticky notes over the digital clock on the dashboard to hide it because it was wrong and confusing. Then I went to Walmart and got a little manual clock and put it in one of the cup holders because I know how to change those clocks. It works fine, but quartz clocks make a loud ticking noise and so the radio has to be a little louder.
Today, down comes the sticky note, away with the alarm clock and now we have The Right Time in our car again. This is going to be a good day.
I’m headed over to the other side of the Pond for some Cuban Coffee and Apple Fried Pies and to just sit and know I have gained an extra hour today.
No, really, that’s what happened.
