THE RESCUE
Recently in a dream I heard this phrase, “Angel dogs are sent to shelters to rescue people…” I thought about this later and wondered if it just might be so. I have seen bumper stickers with a paw print on them that read, “Who rescued who?” Of course many people feel very safe and comforted by the love of a pet. Many of us have something in us that needs rescued and animals can often do just that. Whether an angel is attached to animals is another speculation to chew on.
A far greater rescue is our broken, abandoned and orphaned souls. Isaiah, a prophet, wrote, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Our going astray and our iniquity have been given over to Jesus to deal with. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” He is in the rescue business. There is no one too difficult for him to rescue if we want to be rescued. He will open the cage and let us out. Just grab the rope and he will pull us in to himself.
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” Jesus
