THE POTTER AND THE CLAY I
“It is not you that shapes God.
It is God who shapes you.
If you are the work of God
wait for the hand of the Artist
who does all things in due season.
Offer him your heart,
soft and tractable,
and keep the form
in which the artist has fashioned you.
Let your clay be moist,
lest you grow hard
and lose the imprint of His fingers.”
Irenaeus of Smyrna (130-202 AD) early church bishop and theologian.
Isaiah 64:8
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.”
“And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?” Jesus
