THE MESSENGER
Recently I got this word:
‘It is better to prepare the messenger than the message.’
I know for certain that this is true. In my own experience and the interchange with other leaders through the years. The term I have used to describe a spiritually gifted person that lacks integrity or character is, ‘A canon in a canoe.’ The gift may sink the vessel that carries it unless the vessel continues to prepare and grow.
What I call the ‘Four M’s” are how a messenger is prepared…and in this order in my experience:
Marriage- learning to be one with your mate.
Money- learning that our money is where our heart is and that our care for money forms our message.
Ministry- learning the word ministry means servant as a voluntarily dedicated and obedient person to God and others.
Message- is what proceeds from a messenger that has carefully followed the above order, who sits in front of Jesus and listens for instruction about what to do or say.
I have found that this order can’t have any skips in it. Whatever is missing in this specific order will show up in the messenger and the message.
“A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” Jesus
