THE LORD’S CALF
There once was a farmer who with great joy told his wife and family that one of the cows had twin calves. One was red and one was white. The farmer said that he felt like they should raise them together and when the time comes to sell one and keep the proceeds and to sell the other and give the proceeds to the Lord’s work.
The wife asked, “Which one will we dedicate to the Lord?” The farmer replied, “No need to worry about that now, we will treat them both the same way and when the time comes we will do as I have said.”
Months passed and the farmer came in one day all sad and troubled… “I have bad news, the Lord’s calf died.” The wife answered, “But you said you had not decided which calf was the Lord’s” “Oh, yes, I had always decided it was the white calf. And it’s dead. The Lord’s calf is dead.”
Isn’t it interesting how often that the Lord’s calf dies?
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Jesus
