TAKE A BREAK
Coffee Break used to be a 10-15 minute time allotted in the morning and afternoon as part of a normal workday to stop for a short respite. “Americans consume about 400 million cups of coffee per day, so that’s about 2.8 billion a week.” (The Morning Brew) So, the average Coffee Break takes 20-30 minutes from each workday with these billions of cups of coffee.
But now Americans are taking another break:
“The average worker spends a full day of their work week doing things other than, well, work. A survey from staffing firm OfficeTeam found the average office employee spends 56-65 minutes per day using their cell phone at work for non-work activity. That’s 43% more than the 39 minutes most managers said they thought occurred.” How can this be? A complete day of productivity per week lost to the cell phone? This makes criminals and cheaters out of the whole work force. What if employers cut paychecks by a commensurate amount? I’m just saying…
I going back over to my side of the pond and take a break and have some Cuban Coffee and Chia Seed, Quinoa and Rolled Oats Cookies while I check my texts and email, ESPN, the weather, listen to some music, return calls, read my Bible app, play some games, look at the news, check Google Maps, do some banking, watch a movie, read some blogs, look at photos, go to the app store… or just turn it off and chill and take a nap. Off it is.
“My Father has been working until now [He has never ceased working], and I too am working.” (Amplified) Jesus
