SOUL PROSPERING II
John, an apostle, wrote: “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2)
The soul is our internal person…mind will and emotions. For our soul to prosper there must be an infusion of the Holy Spirit into the soul of a person. As this happens we are transformed (or being transformed) into a new person. As the conscience is awakened to the life of the Father in Jesus within our inner person, truth takes over the soulishness, or our dependence on the soul alone to guide us. Our soul becomes an abiding place for the Spirit of God. Where the Lord is…there is truth… no lies, no darkness and no evil. Truth cleanses us and makes us pure and acceptable in body, soul and spirit.
The word ‘prosper’ in the Bible basically means: ‘to travel on a journey towards completeness and wholeness.’ It literally means, “to help on the road” or “succeed in reaching.” Prospering is much more than money or gaining wealth (but there is nothing wrong with that either). Soul Prospering is to succeeding internally as well as externally.
Jesus said: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37) I don’t think this refers to the final destination of our souls, but the current condition. As one writer said, “It is possible for us to be seemingly in order on the outside but be in shambles on the inside.” True health is to prosper in body, soul and spirit. Anything else is living in duality.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Jesus
