SAYING AND BEING
George MacDonald (1824-1905) a Scottish author, poet and minister wrote:
“The time for speaking seldom arrives, the time for being never departs.”
Another has paraphrased it this way: ‘the time for saying comes seldom; the time for being is always there.’
“The one who guards his mouth protects his life;
the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.”
(Proverbs 13:3)
“The one who guards his mouth and tongue
keeps himself out of trouble.” (Proverbs 21:23)
“With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in God’s likeness. Blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.” (James 3:9-10) “But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22)
“Those who talk don’t know, those who know don’t talk,” a proverb often attributed to Lao Tzu (6th century BC), a Chinese philosopher.
“The one who is from God listens to God’s words.” Jesus
