SAME TRINITARIAN SPIRIT
The Spirit that came at Pentecost in the Upper Room and filled the 120 disciples in Jerusalem is the same Spirit that is “the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters” at creation (Genesis 1:2). It is the same Spirit that descended on Jesus at his baptism by John in the Jordan River. It is the same Spirit promised by Joel, “I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. (Joel 2:28). Joel also promises by this Spirit that “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved (or rescued)” (Joel 2:32).
Because of the loving Father sending His Spirit, his breath, his life into those who ‘have been born from above’ (John 3:3,6), we are Spirit-filled followers of Jesus.
Paul, an apostle, makes it all very clear: “But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you” (Romans 8:8-11).
It is the Same Trinitarian Spirit.
“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” Jesus
