RISE AND SHINE
I remember when I was growing up and going to church that one of the first things I learned was that it was necessary to be very quiet during the meeting. I soon started to believe that the quiet was not just respect of some kind for something as I was told, but maybe God was asleep. The way everyone whispered like when children are sleeping. My question was: Why would God sleep when we all came to see him and be with him?
Back in October of 2024 I heard: ‘Rise and Shine…is a new instruction for believers.’ It was a strong word. I felt it carried the idea of, ‘Wake up!’ I thought of Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, shine; for your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”
And Ephesians 5:14: “Awake, O sleeper!
Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you!”
I think the word I got is calling for Celebration, both privately and corporately. But what if we are so sleepy and quiet and whispering that we have to pipe in noise to our ‘church service’ the same way they do at concerts, sports events, comic routines, TV comedies… etc. to give an appearance of life and joy and pleasure though the audience is silent?
We need to make some noise! Let’s put the rocks and religion out of business. Let’s make some noise!
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” Jesus
