PONO

In the Hawaiian language Pono means ‘To do what’s right.’ It is commonly rendered as righteousness. The Hawaii state motto is, “The sovereignty of the land is perpetuated in righteousness,” or in Pono.

English translation equivalents of Pono are: Goodness, uprightness, morality, moral qualities, correct or proper procedure, excellence, well-being, prosperity, welfare, benefit, behalf, equity, sake, true condition or nature, duty; moral, fitting, proper, righteous, just, virtuous, fair, beneficial, successful, in perfect order, accurate, correct, eased, relieved; should, ought, must, necessary.

I am just praying for a Hawaiian holiday of Pono in my heart and in our culture: ‘To do what’s right.’
