ON THAT DAY

There is ‘a time coming’ when there will be an actualized kingship of Jesus over all the earth: “The Lord will then be king over all the earth. In that day the Lord will be seen as one with a single name” (Zechariah 14:9). One commentator says: “The expression the Lord will be seen as one with a single name is an unmistakable reference to the so-called Shema, the crystalized statement of faith in the Lord as the covenant God of Israel (Deuteronomy 6:4-5). Zechariah, however, universalizes the extent of the Lord’s dominion…he will be “king over all the earth.” Jewish traditions also call this time in Zechariah 14:9, ‘the repair of the world.’” I like that. On that day all will know there is one God and King: Jesus. He is repairing, and will finish repairing the world.

Paul, an apostle, wrote: “Then comes the end when He will deliver up the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He will reign until He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:24-26). It’s all repaired.

Some know all of this now. On That Day everyone will.
